Permanent Retainers vs removable?

I have removable retainers right now i have my braces off for three years I sometimes forget to wear my retainers or misplace them and forget where they are.. My ortho sent me to a place where permanent retainers are four hundred dollars for top and bottom.. Should I get them or stick with my removable retainers
